Environmental Justice
GreenWorks believes in equitable distribution and access to environmental goods such as food, clean air & water, parks, recreation, health care, education, transportation, safe jobs, etc. We also understand that sustainability is a choice and that people must have self-determination and be able to participate in decision-making in order for sustainability to become a reality in their communities. GreenWorks adopts the U.N principles of Environmental Justice and we support the idea that education of present and future generations must have an appreciation for diversity and cultural perspectives. We also affirm the need for urban and rural ecological policies to clean up and rebuild our cities and rural areas in balance with nature, honoring the cultural integrity of all our communities, and provided fair access for all to the full range of resources.
Project
GreenWorks convenes community leaders, parent groups, business owners and local residents to assist in revitalizing the Bedford-Stuyvesant community. We help residents understand the environmental and health hazards facing their community and encourage them to take action. |
